She’s got a packed schedule while currently shooting “Hitchcock” and an Untitled Phil Spector Biopic, but Helen Mirren found time to partake in a cover gig for the June 2012 issue of Woman & Home magazine.
The 66-year-old English actress looked elegant in a Jacques Azagury dress with De Beers jewelry for the Jack Guy shot front page while opening up about topics such as what it means to be British and her political stance.
Highlights from Miss Mirren’s interview are as follows. For more, be sure to pay a visit to Woman & Home!
On what it means to her to be British:
“It’s such a complicated question. I am British, but more than that I’m a Londoner. I love the history of the city and feel very connected with that. I am the daughter of an immigrant ? my father was Russian ? but my mother came from West Ham, so part of my connection with London is due to her heritage.”
On if she were Queen for a day:
“I would like breakfast in bed and then I’d sneak out incognito and go shopping in Zara. At the end of the day, I’d have a glass of Champagne while sitting on the throne ? and then I’d happily hand it all back! It’s not a role I’d covet for the long-term.”
On her political stance:
“I’m not a republican any more. Not so voraciously anyway ? I’m not in favour of the concept of monarchy, but I do see the good in it if there’s a good person in the role.”
