Introducing Word Lens

Word Lens for iOS and Android See the world in your language! Try the free demo today, buy languages when you need them. Italian, French, and Spanish to and from English now available! Download – iOS: itunes.apple.com – Android: play.google.com Translate printed words instantly through your video camera. No network delay, no roaming fees, and no reception problems. Word Lens is a dictionary — evolved. It looks up words for you, and shows them in context. Word Lens has its limits. Sometimes the translation will have mistakes, and may be hard to understand, but it usually gets the point across. If a translation fails, there is a way to manually look up words by typing them in. Word Lens does not read very stylized fonts, handwriting, or cursive. Try it, and tell us what you think!

I’ve yet to see a device or software that can do what a human translator can do. It’s more than getting house equals casa. It means understanding nuances such as casucha might be more appropriate than choza. Plus using a device or software means someone must be willing to *use* it. A lot of people don’t want to bother with devices. You will have retired before they come up with a device or software that can translate between languages with correct grammar and nuance. Good luck!

Sorry about that; we’re not fluent Spanish speakers here, so we didn’t? catch the errors. We decided to keep the video up anyway; try it on other Spanish text to get a better idea of what it can do. 🙂
