Is a degree from University of Phoenix less valuable then a degree from a different school?

Question by Ben: Is a degree from University of Phoenix less valuable then a degree from a different school?
I am a year away from a degree from UOPX and I am wondering if it will count for much in today’s job market?

Like most good answers … it depends!

If you are looking for work in a field that is looking for general knowledge (say, communications, or journalism), then any degree has value … it shows commitment and a basic education.

If you are looking for work in a specific job market, competing with other graduates with degrees, it will be a competitive disadvantage.

If you are looking for further education, it may be acceptable, but not as valuable.

There are actually very few jobs that care about where you got your degree.

There is no use equivocating: A University of Phoenix degree is an embarrassment on anyone’s resume, and will often get their job application tossed directly into the trash.

U of Phoenix students, of course, are the last to know this…

It depends on the employer. Some are judgmental on where you’ve got your degree while others don’t care, as long as you have the degree. I personally could care less either way because I have my own business and make more than doctors and more than any employer would ever pay me.
