There’s a new smartphone on the market, and this one is called the Nokia
Lumia 1020. Perhaps the phone’s most impressive feature is its 41-megapixel
camera. To put that into perspective, the iPhone 5 currently boasts an
8-megapixel camera. Would you get it? Or are 41 megapixels too much for you?

don’t you all sheep’s see it’s just a sales product you don’t need. just to
keep there company running. Stop buying this and provide food for all
people on this little planet. free education, so much more important then
each year or so a new cellphone. DO YOU REALLY NEED THIS ALL?????

  5. David White January 9, 2014 at 6:03 pm

Then this phone/camera isn’t for you. Go buy some other cheaper Lumia, they
have a range to cater for all.

you don’t have to be a professional photographer to have this phone. some
smartphone buyers want the best camera technology, so this is the one for
    them.

nokia has the best marketing. marketing is on channel 4 and every day
banners every where globally. so shut up

  15. cwuzii January 9, 2014 at 10:52 pm

They’ve gone way too far with the MP. It’s not all about the MP anyway,
that doesn’t always determine the quality of a picture. After 12mp, it’s
pointless adding any more until we have higher pixel screens and better
    lenses etc…

  16. David White January 9, 2014 at 11:12 pm

They have cheaper phones without the crazy camera, go buy those

You’re uninformed and assuming they are just throwing in more megapixels
for the sake of marketing. It couldn’t be further from the truth – this
tech was in development for more than 5 years and they had to in fact wait
until processing power was good enough before they could implement their
oversampling technology. It makes a real difference. Go and read up the
detailed tech specs on their white papers. Btw I actually own an 808
PureView and its photos speak for themselves.

They got ITN to give them free publicity. But then again, ITN gives
cellular phones free publicity almost as often as they show Chinese
children stuck in window grates. :-/

its not that bad but nokia sucks at marketing.

  21. Herpa Derp January 10, 2014 at 2:01 am

You obviously have no idea how innovative Nokia is. Their 8.7 MP 920 was
better than all the other smartphone cameras on the market and it only had
8.7 MP. It’s because of the technology they use. PureView, Carl Zeiss, OIS,
long exposure, etc. With the 1020, they blew everyone out of the water.
Even their own phones. As well as so many ACTUAL cameras. You’re right.
It’s not about MP, it’s the technology behind it, and Nokia HAS that
technology and innovation to make an amazing camera.

15 years ago people said the same about hard drives – that most people
would be fine with 1 or 2 gb of space. Who needed more, right? 🙂
